Program Summary

The Graduate School of Public and International Affairs offers a multidisciplinary master’s program specializing in public and international affairs. The degree awarded is the Master of Arts (MA) in Public and International Affairs. The program, which can be followed part-time or full-time, also offers a co-op option for students registered full-time.
Full-time and part-time students registered in the master’s program in public and international affairs must successfully complete a total of six compulsory courses, four optional courses, an integration seminar and a dissertation for a total of 39 credits.
Public and International Affairs participates in the multidisciplinary program in environmental sustainability as well as the multidisciplinary program in science, society and public policy.
The program is governed by the general regulations in force for higher studies.
The Graduate School of Public and International Affairs has entered into an agreement with Wuhan University in China. Under this agreement, students interested in the master’s degree in public and international affairs at the University of Ottawa can obtain a conditional offer of admission to the master’s degree under which they will be able to follow the 4th year of the bachelor’s degree at their university. originally at the University of Ottawa and then progressed to the master’s degree in public and international affairs and satisfied the requirements of both degrees in five years (3+1+2).
NOTE:   The University of Ottawa offers a partial tuition fee waiver scholarship to French-speaking international students. This significant contribution to financing their study project allows for a considerable reduction in tuition fees.
To benefit from the partial exemption scholarship, international students must:
  • accept an offer of admission to a program of study offered only in French;
OR
  • have completed secondary or post-secondary studies in French for at least two years and have obtained their diploma; And
  • register for compulsory courses in French if these courses are given in both official languages ​​(French and English).
