The Department of Philosophy offers the MA program (with or without thesis) and the doctoral (Ph.D.) program in philosophy. Programs are offered in French and English. In accordance with University policy, students may study in the official language of their choice.
The Department participates in multidisciplinary programs in feminist and gender studies and in medieval and Renaissance studies (at the master’s level) and in Canadian studies (at the doctoral level).
The multidisciplinary program in feminist and gender studies at the master’s level aims to combine graduate studies in a particular discipline with the feminist approach and the issues developed in feminist and gender studies. This multidisciplinary program is aimed in particular at students registered in specific programs in arts, counseling and spirituality (Saint-Paul), law, education, health sciences, social sciences who are interested in feminist and gender studies. gender. The degree awarded is a master’s degree in the primary discipline with a “specialization in feminist and gender studies”.
NOTE: The University of Ottawa offers a partial tuition fee waiver scholarship to French-speaking international students. This significant contribution to financing their study project allows for a considerable reduction in tuition fees.
To benefit from the partial exemption scholarship, international students must:
- accept an offer of admission to a program of study offered only in French;
OR
- have completed secondary or post-secondary studies in French for at least two years and have obtained their diploma; And
- register for compulsory courses in French if these courses are given in both official languages (French and English).
