Graduates of the Telecommunications program are generally found among manufacturers of communications equipment, companies offering telecommunications and cable distribution services, as well as wholesale and retail businesses selling electronic communications products. The main tasks of these technologists consist of installing, verifying, repairing and maintaining equipment intended for the world of information and communications. In many cases, they will also have technical assistance and representation tasks.
Technologists in this industry have to install and configure IP AND VOIP networks, draw schematics, and fabricate a device using industrial techniques. Install, maintain and modify electronic equipment used for the transport, conditioning or conversion of analog or digital signals used mainly in the field of communications. Diagnose and troubleshoot high frequency telecommunications systems including residential IP networks (DOCSIS ADSL) by properly using specialized instrumentation. Additionally, the program will equip the student with the skills necessary to prepare for Cisco’s CCNA and CVOICE certifications.
