Artists challenge the status quo. They help us connect – with ourselves and others – and their creative contribution holds a mirror to society that helps us make sense of our rapidly changing world.
If applicants are creative and want to pursue their artistic passion, La Trobe University’s Bachelor of Visual Arts will give them the knowledge, experiences and connections to realise their dream career. Students will gain valuable skills in a range of visual mediums, then dive into their art practice with access to our purpose-built studios and workshops.
Graduates can develop their art practice in a professional environment. Accessible specialised facilities include painting and drawing studios, a digital lighting studio, photographic darkrooms, and sculpture and printmaking workshops. They will also get their own personal studio space from day one of their degree – right through to graduation – where they can hone their skills and collaborate with other artists.
La Trobe University creates connections with like-minded people who are pursuing their creative passion, and students can join a vibrant, close and supportive creative community, with motivated graduates , supportive teachers and an engaged alumni network. They will benefit from the close-knit campus, where they’ll feel like part of a family.
Graduates will create their own path. If perhaps they would like to explore anthropology, history or crime, justice and legal studies. No matter what students choose to explore, they’ll learn from world-class academics and leading researchers, including established artists and published art historians.
