Bachelor of Science (Hons) – Geology (OZW) (Optional Co-op) (French)

Program Summary

Geology is a modern, dynamic and diverse science that studies the composition and evolution of the Earth and other planetary bodies.
Geologists and earth scientists study the planet in all its forms, including its chemical, physical and biological evolution. Our programs show students how to analyze Earth materials, probe the Earth from its surface to its depths, and model the processes that created and shaped its oceans and continents. The natural laboratory that constitutes the Ottawa-Gatineau region makes it possible to study resources (water, metals, minerals, oil), disasters (earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, landslides) and a diversity of environments geological.
The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences offers a program in geology and, in collaboration with the Department of Physics, a program in geology-physics. These programs provide a balance between on-the-job learning and theoretical and analytical studies to meet the needs of society. The final year involves the completion of an independent research project or the equivalent in advanced course credits in the specialization.
Specialized programs meet the accreditation requirements of the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario and the Order of Geologists of Quebec.
The program is offered in English and French.
NOTE:   The University of Ottawa offers a partial tuition fee waiver scholarship to French-speaking international students. This significant contribution to financing their study project allows for a considerable reduction in tuition fees.
To benefit from the partial exemption scholarship, international students must:
  • accept an offer of admission to a program of study offered in French;
  • register full-time and take at least 3 courses (9 credits) per term in French.
