Study the Earth as an environmental geologist to understand the environmental interactions between geology, biology and hydrology.
The Environmental Geology program integrates environmental science and geology into a unique, balanced pathway of courses in biology and chemistry and courses focused on Earth sciences. Environmental geology requires a multidisciplinary approach offering a broad range of expertise on the environmental interactions between the Earth, the biosphere, the atmosphere and the oceans.
Through the combination of analytical courses and field work, students gain hands-on experience as well as in-depth knowledge of all aspects of environmental geology. The final year involves the completion of an independent research project or the equivalent in advanced course credits in the specialization.
By following the proposed course sequence, students can meet the accreditation requirements of the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario and the Ordre des geologues du Québec.
The program is offered in English and French.
NOTE: The University of Ottawa offers a partial tuition fee waiver scholarship to French-speaking international students. This significant contribution to financing their study project allows for a considerable reduction in tuition fees.
To benefit from the partial exemption scholarship, international students must:
- accept an offer of admission to a program of study offered in French;
- register full-time and take at least 3 courses (9 credits) per term in French.
OR
- accept an offer of admission to a program in English offering the French Immersion Program;
