The Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications prepares students for media careers in broadcast journalism, digital media, broadcast production, or promotional communication. The program has two concentrations: Broadcast-News and Broadcast-Program and Production.
Graduates should understand the structure and functions of media systems as well as the basic processes of mass communication. Students learn writing and video skills that prepare them for a variety of media jobs. The Tampa media market, which consistently ranks in the top 15 in the country, provides students with opportunities to learn from industry professionals who visit classes and host students in their workplaces. While pursuing their studies, students are strongly encouraged to expand their learning beyond the classroom by completing internships and working in the field.
